New Year's Eve | outfit & makeup

New Year's Eve outfit inspiration

Still not sure what to wear this New Year's Eve? Look no further, I've put together some pieces that are quite different from your average sparkly dress.

To bring in the bells why not opt for some fun printed trousers and a classic white blouse paired with your fav' black heels. Perfect.  Keep accessorises fairly minimal and make sure that they all match!

For makeup you want to make sure that its long lasting (you don't want any shiny skin in your pictures, right?) so grab your holy grail powder (Rimmel Stay Matte is a good choice) and powder where necessary; but be sure to not go over board, you still want your skin looking as natural as possible.
Take your bronzer to add some warmth to your skin, place it where you would naturally catch the sun, i.e. tops of your cheekbones, temples, little down your nose, along the chin.. oh and bring it down onto your neck (we don't want two tone skin!). If you're wearing something that shows of your chest area, add a dust bronzer to your collarbones.
For eyes I'd keep it fairly minimal and instead make a statement with a bold red lip, however be sure to pack on the mascara (we want lush long lashes).

And that's you all set, ready to step into 2014 looking fresh!

I'd just like to thank you all that have read and followed my blog, I really do value all your comments and opinions that you make! I hope you all have had a great 2013 and wish you all the best for the following year.

Speak to you next year,

sincerely, Nicole

The festive red

We all love a good red nail polish don't we? Classy, elegant and perfect for the holiday season. So just on time for Christmas day, I've gave my nails some needed 'TLC by swiping on a coat of glamorous red.

      The tools and steps
  • Nail clippers would be a good start. Make them the length that you like, I personally don't like mine to long but not to short to either.
  • So now we have the correct length, we now need the correct shape! Again this is totally up to your preference, for me I take my nail file and make my nails slightly rounded.
  • Length? check✓ Shape? check✓  All we need now is the pop of colour. I first use my 'Sally Hansen double duty base and top coat' to create a base for my nails, this will prevent any staining and will help make the polish last a little longer.
  • Next, its in with the red. I opted for my Rimmel London '327 heart on fire' polish. I think personally this is the classic red, not overly bright, but not to berry either. Perfect. I not only like the colour, but also the brush applicator, its bigger than a standard nail polish brush for that one swipe application!
  • Lastly, I go in with a top coat to make your nails really shine, again I use my Sally Hansen polish.

And there we have it! Perfect red nails for a festive christmas day. To really make your 'red effect' match your freshly painted nails with a beaming red lippy, this will really make your outfit pop!

I'll posting again after christmas, so until then have a lovely day with your family and friends and make sure that you leave yourself room for that big christmas day feast.

Sincerely, Nicole

Christmas/Birthday wishlist

Quick post today guys, just wanted to share what would be on my dream list to receive this Christmas and birthday (I'm blessed with a January birthday you see).
On the top of my list would have to be a canon camera, I have dreamed of owning one for the longest time and it would save me having to 'borrow' my mums camera 24/7! Also on my list would be a few fashion items such as a pair of leather boots (which I actually know that I'm getting from my gran), never actually owned a brown before so that would be nice. I'd like some updated makeup, something that could take me into spring (planning ahead!) so I put on my wishlist some NARS cosmetics and a bobbi brown palette, both brands that I've never owned anything of. I've also added a few things that id like to make my bedroom feel a little more cosy and completed as I've recently had it redecorated.

Just to put it out there that of course I will not be receiving all these items, and that this will be spread over a Christmas and birthday. As much as I would love these beauties to make there way into my life, most of them will not.. however a girl can dream!

Sincerely, Nicole x
